UAE: ESMA carries out a GCC training workshop on halal certification requirements

Within the framework of the joint cooperation between the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and the building of specialized technical competencies and capabilities, the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), in the capital Abu Dhabi, conducted a training course on “Halal certification requirements” in accordance with the UAE standard 2055-2: Halal products – Part 2: General requirements for halal certification bodies.

The three-day training course, held in cooperation with the Gulf Training Center, was held with the participation of a number of representatives and standardization bodies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. From a legislative and practical standpoint, it contributes to the promotion of trade and the development of the Islamic economy sector.

The UAE has a comprehensive system and an integrated infrastructure including laws, legislation, initiatives and applications in the field of Halal industry. Initiatives supporting the Islamic economy, most notably the initiative of Dubai, the capital of Islamic economy.

The training course included introducing Halal concepts in Islamic Sharia and qualifying auditors in the field of Halal products standards, certification requirements, inspection and control of Halal products such as food, cosmetics products, personal care, halal hospitality and other fields. In an effort to improve the infrastructure of halal products to promote and increase the volume of trade exchange between the Gulf Arab states.
