Dubai-UAE: 12 December 2015 – Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Crown Prince of Dubai issued directions for the 3rd Global Islamic Economy Summit to be held in Dubai from 11-12 October 2016 in cooperation with the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre (DIEDC) and Dubai Chamber.
Making the announcement His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said: “The UAE has earned global credibility for developing the pillars of an Islamic economy that targets sustainable growth. This stature enables us to lead the march in the production of resources and knowledge assets to shape and expand a viable Islamic ecosystem. Our global model for a sustainable economy is based on responsible investment of Islamic assets in sectors compatible with Islamic sharia.”
His Highness added: ”We aim through the 3rd Global Islamic Economy Summit to drive the Islamic economy forward within its well-known ethical parameters of transparency and collective responsibility. We are keen to discuss forms of cooperation with various regional and global partners to shape and enhance the production infrastructure of Islamic countries to eble greater contribution by the sector to the GDP globally. We are confident such synergies will support the resurgence of global markets by establishing a holistic development plan and mark the start of new and sustainable beginnings for the world economy.”
For his part His Excellency Majid Saif Al Ghurair Chairman of Dubai Chamber said: ”The Global Islamic Economy Summit has proven to be the perfect platform for initiating dialogue about the Islamic economy and reinforce it as a comprehensive ecosystem for social and economic development. Reflecting the leadership of Dubai in Islamic economy the event inspires the exchange of expertise and encourages discussion on ways to improve sharia compliant services and products.
The event also invites stakeholders to come together to explore solutions for major challenges in the Islamic ecosystem. We are confident the third edition of the Summit will be as fruitful and take the conversation to a new level.”
The first and second editions of the Global Islamic Economy Summit successfully helped define the potential of Islamic economy and demonstrate the ability of Dubai and the wider UAE to lead the development of its key sectors. In 2016 the 3rd Global Islamic Economy Summit will host intensive and insightful discussions to explore new solutions for promoting ethical investments in human and financial resources.
