UAE: Workshop held to review ‘Halal’ trademark

The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) organised a ‘Halal’ workshop in cooperation with Emirates UAE Halal MarkAuthority for Standardisation and Metrology (Esma) on Monday.

The meeting was held in order to display the procedures related to the national trademark “Halal” and the requirements of the Emirates system to control “Halal” products. The workshop was attended by number of officials from the government entities in the control and quality departments, and the institutions and entities in the food sector.

Commenting on the workshop, Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, said that the workshop comes as a continuous for the strategic partnership that exists between Sedd and Esma in order to improve the economic development is the country.

The workshop was launched by Fahad Al Khamiri, Director of Registration and Licensing Department at Sedd, at which he stated that the department is always keens on providing the best services to the customers and improving the communication means to reach the markets and ensure their safety.

UAE is ranked the third globally in the field of benefiting from halal food, in addition to a flexible legislative and regulatory structure that help in the process of importing food and re-export to the surrounding markets.
