KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 (Bernama) — Kumpulan Rahman Brothers Sdn Bhd
(KRB) have added yet another success to their list with the successful
export of their De Rahman brand of products to the Saudi Arabia and
China markets in the last two years.
The company’s Trade and Marketing Executive, Suhaila Abdul Kadir
said todate the company’s De Rahman chilli sauce, oyster sauce and
canned sardines have recorded total sales of RM5 million since 2006.
Although the products were launched in the overseas markets, they
are now being sold in the country and can be found in selected
supermarkets, she told Bernama in a recent interview.
Suhaila said the company’s move into the Saudi Arabia and China
market was through joint efforts with Mara under the auspices of the
Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (MeCD).
Mara has also appointed KRB to manage the Bumiputera Exhibition
Centre in Shanghai, China where it is responsible for the development
of market for Malaysian products in the country.
To bring Malaysian products into China, she said the company had
to meet certain conditions including labelling the products in
Mandarin, entering the manufacture and expiry dates as well as meeting
the condition on the amount of preservatives allowed.
Once they meet the conditions set, the Malaysian products can be
directly marketed from KRB’s subsidiary company in Shanghai, she said.
It is different in Saudi Arabia, where KRB had to set up a joint
venture with a local company, Sulaiman Johar Trading, to market its
products, she said.
The cost would be too high to directly market the products, she said.
Nevertheless, the products, especially canned sardines are
enjoying very good response from the people in China and Saudi Arabia,
Suhaila said.
The De Rahman products have the globally recognised Halal certification from Jakim.
