Jakim To Intensify Halal Certification Training

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 (Bernama) — The Department of
Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) will train officers in
international halal certification, its director general Datuk Wan
Mohamad Sheikh Abdul Aziz said.

He said the selected officers would be sent for training at the
Institute of Islamic Training Malaysia in Bangi and they would help
existing Jakim’s team to carry out halal certification inspection
abroad.

“This is part of the preparation to produce
internationally-recognised halal certificate,” he told reporters after
an Aidilfitri gathering with people with impaired-vision here on Sunday.

Wan Mohamad also said that Jakim would continue its collaboration
with 42 Islamic organisations in 22 countries which are Jakim’s agents
in implementing the certification process.
