KUALA LUMPUR: The Halal Industry Development Corporation yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) to provide specific capabilities and resources for people intending to get involved in the Halal industry.
Chief executive officer Datuk Seri Jamil Bidin said under the MoU, the corporation would provide training and guidance for small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to apply for halal certificates from Jakim.
“A lot of SMEs don’t know the right procedures to apply for halal certificates. Most of the applications are incomplete. Thus, Jakim cannot expedite processing the applications due to inadequate information.
“From this MoU, SMEs will particularly appreciate getting more acquainted with the halal certification processes and procedures,” he told reporters after the MoU signing. — Bernama
