KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 30
(Bernama) — The Ministry of Entrepreneur and Co-operative Development
(MeCD) will be launching its national entrepreneurs drive programme
(GUN ’09) from February 6-8.
The event is expected to provide more exposure to visitors on the
available opportunities and facilities in the field leading to further
entrepreneurship development in the country.
Several new changes in the programme are also expected to attract
the interest of the target groups for the programme, a statement from
the ministry said here Friday.
The target groups comprise existing entrepreneurs, potential
entrepreneurs, graduates, cooperatives, civil servants who have yet to
retire as well as pensioners and private company staff who have opted
for Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS).
GUN O9 will be held at the Putra World Trade Centre and is
expected to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad
Badawi.
Several other agencies under MeCD such as MARA, Perbadanan
Nasional Bhd (PNS), SME Bank, Bank Rakyat, TEKUN, as well as state
economic corporations will be supporting the event. Other agencies such
as SIRIM, Halal Development Corporation (HDC), the Small and Medium
Industry Development Corporation as well as the Malaysian External
Trade Development Corporation will also support the event.
GUN 09 aims to also bring together entrepreneur marketing
companies and trading houses both locals and from overseas to help the
SMEs to market their products.
It also aims to promote entrepreneurship as a choice career field.
The ministry said the event will be also used as a platform to
expose people to the role played by MeCD and its agencies in their
promotion of entrepreneurship via their seminars, workshops and
exhibitions.
People will be able to get detailed information on the various
opportunities as well as solutions to problems they may be facing in
the area.
This year’s event will not be limited to locals but will also see
the participation of a group of entrepreneurs from the ASEAN Young
Entrepreneurs Symposium Conference & Exhibition 2009, as well as
other locals who have established their names overseas.
