KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 (Bernama) — Saha Farms Company Ltd
Thailand has granted the exclusive marketing rights to Rancang Awal
International Sdn Bhd to promote and market their products in Malaysia
and the Middle East countries.
The Executive Chairman of Rancang Awal, Mohd Shakri Abdul Razak,
said the company has received approvals to supply to Sabah and Sarawak
from next month while approval for the Penisular Malaysia market was
expected before fasting starts end of next month.
Saha produces fresh chickens and processed foods in Thailand.
At a press conference here Monday, Shakri said the company has
also gained exclusive rights to supply fresh chicken to Dubai and Syria.
Earlier today, Saha Farms also received the Halal Certification
from Halal Industry Development Corporation of Malaysia (HDC). Deputy
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Senator Datuk Dr. Mashitah
Ibrahim, presented the certification.
Shakri said the company expected to sell three to five million fresh chicken nationwide this year.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Saha Farms Dr. Panya Chotitawan said
Saha Farms had spared no efforts to ensure that the company complied
with halal rule.
Dr. Mashitah said there was a big potential for chicken products
in the halal market given a world population estimated at six billion
with Muslims accounting for 1.7 billion.
“While Asia is a market of interest simply because of its size as
the largest Muslim region, it must be noted that key players in the
region are taking steps to become key suppliers or certifiers,” she
said, pointing out the intense competition.
The international trade of Halal products has less than 10 percent
share in the global market. This indicates that as the global economy
grows, and consumers’ purchasing power increases, demand for Halal food
will in turn increase, she added.
