Saudi Arabia: SFDA CEO Leads Saudi Delegation to GCC Meeting on Food Safety

Doha, March 07, 2024, SPA — Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) CEO Hisham Saad Aljadhey headed the Saudi delegation at the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC’s) eighth annual ministerial meeting on food safety, held Thursday in Doha, Qatar.
The meeting highlighted the achievements resulting from cooperation among the GCC countries in the field of food safety. Several unified regulations and laws have been approved among the GCC states and have been adopted as mandatory.
Other achievements include the implementation of the Rapid Alarm System for Food and Feed in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC-RASFF), the introduction of bylaws to standardize food regulations within the GCC, and the development of a guide for issuing certificates for food products traded among GCC countries.
Additionally, regulations related to the GCC Guide for Control on Imported Foods were adopted, along with mechanisms for its application.
The meeting also addressed the mechanisms for imposing and lifting import bans on animal-origin foods and their products, as well as the procedures for issuing Halal certificates.
The meeting extensively discussed these regulations and took appropriate measures in response.
