A large number of Chinese meat processing machinery manufacturers and dealers are expected to take part
in the 5th China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) to be held in Nanning, China, in order to foster business
opportunities with Brunei Darussalam’s delegates.
The expo, which runs from October 22 to 25, will see an array of exhibition on food processing and
packaging machinery.
The exhibition will also showcase products of Chinese meat processing machinery manufacturers, such as
meat mincers, cutters, slicers, grinders, meatball machines, production lines of slaughtering and slicing.
Over the past four exhibitions, remarkable economic and trade outcomes have been made, drawing 334
enterprises taking up 586 booths and 3,361 sourcing enterprises from Chinese outbound, including Brunei,
concluding a total trading volume of US$114 million.
The number of meat processing machinery manufacturers exhibitors grew yearly and their products are well
received by Asean purchasers.
In 2007, Asean imported Chinese food processing machinery worth US$251 million, of which, the volume for
meat processing machinery reached US$3.505 million.
The first half of 2008 saw the continued rise in Asean’s import of Chinese food processing machinery, in
which meat processing machinery remains an important part.
Brunei plans to build up its fishery industry as an important part in its diversified economic strategies and the
aquatic food processing industry is also growing rapidly.
Meanwhile, the Halal food market enjoys huge market potentials in the Asean-China region.
The meat processing machinery of China, given high quality and competitive prices, well addresses the need
of Brunei meat producers for international partnership.
In recent years, Chinese meat processing industry has formed a complete industrial chain, which has made
modern meat processing its core, covering husbandry, slaughtering and intensive processing, cold storage
and transport, wholesale and distribution, retail and other related services.
With good quality control and advanced technologies, Chinese meat processing machinery caters to the
demands of meat and aquatic food producers in Brunei.
With the expediting of the construction of China-Asean Free Trade Area (CAFTA) and the Pan-Beibu Gulf
Economic Cooperation Zone, tariffs between Asean and China are being reduced and eventually, will be
zeroed down.
In 2007, the tariff rate on meat processing machinery between Asean countries, including Brunei and China,
dropped to 5 per cent.
By 2010, the tariff rate on most food and packaging machinery between Brunei and China will be down to
zero.
In order to yield richer economic and trade outcomes, the CAEXPO Secretariat will continue to work with
Chinese leading professional associations like the China Food and Packaging Machinery Industry
Association to organise more renowned enterprises to the event as exhibitors.
So far, over 80 Chinese enterprises have registered as exhibitors, booking nearly 200 booths.
Some big names in Chinese meat processing machinery industry include Quanzhou Tianshun Food
Machinery Co Ltd, Qingdao Jianhua Food Machinery Co Ltd and Langfang Huiyou Machinery Co Ltd have
confirmed to participate in the 5th CAEXPO.
The CAEXPO Secretariat will take effective measures to improve the
exhibition services, including pre-matching programme via its business
database, and the Exhibitors’ Rostrum, as well as mini-sized seminars
during the exhibition period, facilitating exchanges among exhibitors
and trade visitors.
During the 5th CAEXPO, temporary direct chartered flight is available from Bandar Seri Begawan to Nanning
for Brunei exhibitors and trade visitors.
In addition, roundtrip flights will also be provided from Hong Kong and Guangzhou to Nanning, which takes
only one hour for a one-way trip, to facilitate the participants of the China Import & Export Fair (the Canton
Fair) to extend their trips to the CAEXPO.
