BANGKOK, 20 August 2013 (NNT) – Chulalongkorn University has introduced a new mobile phone application to create Halal food confidence for Muslim consumers.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan, Director of the Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University, said that Muslim consumers may now choose their food with more confidence and with greater convenience using the new “Halal Thailand” application created by the Halal Science Center Chulalongkorn University in cooperation with the Central Islamic Council of Thailand.
The application is available on Android and iOS devices and can be activated by a barcode scanning system for QR codes or by putting in the Halal number into the system. The information on the food quality and Halal registration information (Hal-Q) will be delivered from the web server straight to the mobile phone.
According to Dr. Winai, Thailand is the first country in the world to incorporate QR barcode technology with Halal food for a consumer application. The application has been officially launched on the 14th August 2013 at the Hasib Science Meeting 2013.
