Can non-stun slaughter meet organic welfare standards?

An EU judge, the advocate general, will on 20 September hand down an opinion on a case brought by an animal rights group challenging the right of halal meat to carry an organic label on grounds that slaughter without stunning does not meet the high welfare standards required under EU law.
