TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary General of Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) Ihsan ÖVÜT arrived in Tehran late on Saturday to take part in the 17th edition of the Iran National Quality Award Conference.
The SMIIC chief will attend the conference at the official invitation of the head of the National Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI).
Upon his arrival in Tehran, the SMIIC secretary general was welcomed by the ISIRI deputy for International Relations Office.
According to the scheduled program, the SMIIC secretary general, in addition to delivering a lecture at the conference, will visit a number of industrial and production units and also hold expert-level talks with some of ranking government officials.
The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) is the most important organization in compiling halal standards in the fields of food, health, tourism, management system and other related fields such as metrology, qualification certification and conformity assessment, accepted by 57 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) which Iran is one of the 13 board members of this Institution.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the most active members of the Technical Committee of SMIIC.
