UK International Airlines begins Halal flights to Pakistan

Islamabad, (PTI): Britian-based UK
International Airlines began operating services to Pakistan with the
arrival of its inaugural flight to the airport here on Saturday with
120 passengers.

The airline, which was formed in 2005
and is based in Sheffield, will operate flights twice a week from
Nottingham to Islamabad via Sharjah.

Abdul Khaliq, Chairman of UK
International, and a British citizen of Pakistani-origin, told
reporters that a unique feature of the airline was the serving of halal
meals and non-alcoholic drinks on flights.

A Boeing-767 will operate on the
Nottingham-Islamabad route, and the frequency of flights will be
increased from two a week to six in January.

The airline will later launch flights
from Britain to Lahore and Karachi, he said. PIA is providing ground
handling facility to UK International at Islamabad international
airport.
