The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) in Indonesia has announced that all food importers must register their imported products on the online platform for the certification of foreign “Halal” products (SHLN).
The BPJPH, part of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, stated that starting from next month, all importers will be required to register their imports through the online system for obtaining “Halal” certification for foreign goods.
The “Halal” certification, which will become mandatory from the 17 October 2024, under this new regulation, obtaining a Halal certificate will be compulsory for food producers and their supply chain partners including logistics, trade, and retail.
The new law also mandates the labeling of “Non-Halal” on all products containing forbidden ingredients, such as prohibited meats. Furthermore, any product not registered will be considered non-Halal, even if it carries a Halal label from the country of origin.
