LAHORE: Punjab Halal Development Agency (PHDA) Chairman Justice Retd Khalil-ur-Rehman Khan has stressed the need for devising a ‘development plan’ to promote exports of quality Halal products from Pakistan to the international market.
He also called for tailoring a training programme to organise Halal export institutions, improve quality of products, meet the international standards and make a good name in the international market. He expressed these views while chairing a consultative meeting convened by the PHDA to discuss the imperatives of Halal food value chains, compliance regime of integrity food safety standards and halal certification system.
The meeting was part of a capacity development programme initiated by the PHDA for human resource of private industry, especially for food industry. The training programme will be focused on a scope and opportunities of halal business at national and international level.
Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Standing Committee on Halal Food Convener Naseeb Ahmad Saifi assured the participants and PHDA Chairman for initiating such training programmes for processors, manufacturers, importers and exporters to bring industry at par with the international standards. He said that halal food stakeholders would also be extended all-out practical and financial support in this regard.
