Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Our capital city, Kuala Lumpur, is proud to host the upcoming 2nd International Muslim Unity Convention at the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC) on 15?16 December 2009. The event is being hosted in partnership between the Ramadhan Foundation UK, Perdana Leadership Foundation and My Events International.
The main focus of this event is the 2?days Conference and Exhibition, which will bring Islamic scholars from different countries under one platform to present topics and dialog sessions with the audience on Muslim unity. Confirmed speakers at the Convention include Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the 4th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Muhammad Umar, Chairman of Ramadhan Foundation, HE Al Sayed Ali Al Hashimi Special Advisor to
His Highness President of United Arab Emirates and Shaykh Dr Abdur Rahman al Jarrar Senior Scholar at The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Awqaf Dubai, UAE. Topics that will be
discussed at the Convention include Islam & the Media, the role and rights of the Muslim Ummah as well as the Call for Unity.
Subsequent to September 11th incident, numerous efforts by various international organizations were taken to straighten global perception of the Islamic world. One of the major initiatives was taken by the Ramadhan Foundation in 2005 when the organization was inaugurated in UK during the 1st Muslim Unity Convention. This noble effort is still continuously being carried out and attracted more support from across the globe, with the 2nd International Muslim Unity Convention becoming a reality soon.
The targeted delegates for this event are professionals from all levels, members of government and non?government institutions, Islamic scholars, students, families and other grass root individuals. It is open not only to the Islamic society, but also to further understand Islamic way of life. Business professionals can also benefit from the event while exploring opportunities of expanding into other Islamic countries across the region
and greater parts of Asia, Europe, and Americas.
The convention will be ended by a Gala Award Dinner highlighting 2 major events: the presentation of the Global Peace Maker award to Malaysia’s 4 Prime Minister, Yang Amat Berbahagia Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and the declaration of Malaysia as the Peace Capital of the World by the Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak.
About the Organizers
The Ramadhan Foundation is a leading Muslim youth organisation in the United Kingdom that is working for peaceful co?existence and dialogue for all communities. It is based in Greater Manchester and working to also establish the platform for human unity amongst our communities in the UK. Muhammad Umar is the Chairman of Ramadhan Foundation and Executive Director of Ramadhan Productions.
The Foundation was officially launched at the inaugural Muslim Unity Convention held on
Sunday 7th August 2005. The Convention was held at the magnificent and world famous Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Over two thousand people came together to witness for
the first time UK history the Ramadhan Foundation taking the initiative and leadership of uniting Muslims in the UK under one umbrella.
Perdana Leadership Foundation
Perdana Leadership Foundation was chartered in January 2003 as a non?profit organisation, founded with gifts from people who supported the vision of a thriving research and learning institution dedicated to the study of Malaysian leadership and nation?building. It is unique in the sense that it began as an entirely private sector initiative, seed?funded and organised by private sector individuals and corporations. Most
of the Foundation’s present trustees were the early benefactors of this Foundation.
The Foundation’s physical home in Precinct 8, Putrajaya, was completed in October 2003.
The stately building now houses the Perdana Library, an auditorium as well as a multi purpose hall in addition to the offices of the Foundation’s Honorary President, YABhg Tun
Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, and his wife, YABhg Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd. Ali.
A tax?exempt, non?profit organisation, the Foundation intends to become the premier institution for the study of Malaysia’s Prime Ministers and the central resource centre for research into national stewardship as well as a platform for reflection, debate, and discussion with distinguished figures in Malaysian leadership.
