Two panels will be held. The first will discuss the animal welfare implications of a trade deal between the UK and the GCC. Potential topics for discussion include opportunities to grow the UK’s halal export market, as well as animal welfare concerns, including the export of live animals to the Gulf states.
In the second panel, the Committee will explore the potential benefits to UK agri-food producers of a GCC trade deal. Witnesses’ views are likely to be sought on how the Government could equip the UK agri-food sector to take advantage of new opportunities in the Gulf states, and whether reducing or removing export tariffs to the Gulf states would help UK businesses.
