French halal restaurants try gourmet cuisine

In a stylishly decorated restaurant in the
heart of Paris, tucked between Bastille and Place de la Nation, Sophia
Tabet is perusing a typical French menu, including foie gras, beef
fillet and duck confit. But unlike other French eateries, this one offers no wine list, and
all food is prepared strictly in accordance with the principles of
Islamic sharia law.

How many more of these
restaurants catering to the Muslim gourmet are hidden away in cities
around the world? So refreshing to hear rather than a new Halal
McDonald’s! The Muslim youth of America, and other countries, are no
different to the the French, I am sure they would become patrons of
restaurants of this caliber.

Netherlands: School backs down from halal-only Christmas meal

Nice gesture from a school in the Netherlands to make their annual Christmas dinner Halal for the 10 students in the school who are Muslim. However, I would tend to agree with the parents who opposed the decision on this one. Christmas is in no way a Muslim holiday, so Muslims should be given the option not to attend it or, if they want to attend it, they should do so knowing that they are celebrating with Christians in the way they celebrate their religious holiday. Muslim parents must know these issues will come up when they register their children in a Catholic school in the first place, so should not expect concessions for their children other than permission not to attend. Next stop Easter.
