3rd Int’l Halal Products Expo set for curtains-up

The 3rd International Halal Products Expo (IHPE) was launched by the Sultan of Brunei. Accompanying His Majesty were
HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and HRH Prince Mohamed
Bolkiah and HRH Prince ‘Abdul Malik, at the ICC in
Berakas. Then they did a tour of the expo displaying a range of halal and syariah-compliant products and services from the sultanate and the
world from foodstuff to textiles and hair dyes. The event is jointly organised by the Ministry of Industry and Primary resources, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry
of Health.

IHPExpo 2008 sees over 200 participants

The IHPExpo Brunei has confirmed participation of over 200 exhibitors, with 260 booths divided into two – one at
the Plenary hall and the other at the multi-purpose’s. The opening ceremony will be held on August 14 by His Majesty, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei
Darussalam. The expo opens from 10am to 10pm, except on the opening day, when it will open at 8.30 for the arrival of
His Majesty. It ends on August 17.

Also held at the same International Conference Centre venue in Brunei will be the International Halal Market Conference on August 16-17. Pakistan has finally decided
to establish a halal certification board, under the Ministry of Science
and Technology, to devise and enforce halal standards and certification
mechanism for export of halal food products. It is no longer good enough to say because your are a Muslim country things can be assumed to be Halal, especially for export and import purposes. Brunei Darussalam has consented for the enforcement of the Halal
Certificate and Label Order 2005 starting August 1, 2008.The enforcement of the Order
will be implemented in stages and applications will be open for
local halal food producers who wish to use the Brunei Halal logo
during the Brunei 3rd International Halal Expo scheduled for
August 14, 2008. So far 12 companies have already applied for
