Green World to invest RM100m in edible container plant in Penang

Biodegradable
product manufacturer Green World Biotech Sdn Bhd is investing RM100
million in Penang over the next four years to set up a plant that will
churn out edible containers from cane husks and other agro-based
materials.


In a country that uses styrofoam containers for its take away food practically 3 times a day this could be good news. Let’s just hope the food stalls invest in using them! They should be given some kind of incentive to ‘go green’ with their containers.

Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi
has expressed hope that negotiations on the proposed establishment of a
free trade agreement (FTA) between Malaysia and the six-nation Gulf
Cooperation Council (GCC) can start as soon as possible and a mutually
beneficial pact concluded.


Abdullah also made a reference to the prospects of increasing
trade and investment among the Organisation of the Islamic Conference

Malaysian tourism industry achieves exemplary growth

Malaysia recorded a 5.1 per cent increase in tourist arrivals to
22,052,488 last year compared to 20,972,822 in 2007, Tourism Minister
Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said today.

“Despite the current global economic meltdown,
the Malaysian tourism industry has managed to achieve exemplary growth
due to intensification of the ministry’s promotional efforts,” she told
reporters on the second day of the 29th Asean Tourism Forum in Hanoi. She said that Malaysia had attracted 2,428,605 tourists from Indonesia, 1,493,789 from Thailand and 1,172,154 from Brunei.
