KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 (Bernama) — Cadbury Malaysia has welcomed the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia’s (Jakim) confirmation that Cadbury chocolates made and sold in Malaysia are halal.
Its head of corporate and government affairs, Raja Zalina Raja Safran said the company was pleased that Jakim had categorically stated that Cadbury products in Malaysia met the halal guidelines.
“After months of speculations, we hope the confirmation will remove any confusion over the halal status of Cadbury products in Malaysia, leaving consumers free to enjoy our delicious treats once again,” she said in a statement today.
She said Jakim had thoroughly tested Cadbury’s chocolate products and production processes and confirmed that stringent hygiene, quality and safety standards abided by the halal guidelines.
