Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is to organise a conference on ‘Halal Food Export’ on September 9, to discuss the potential of exports of Halal food products from Pakistan, issues hampering its growth and devising a way forward to guide the local industrialists in this regard.
This was stated by LCCI Standing Committee on Halal Food Naseeb Ahmad Saifi here on Wednesday. He said his Company is sponsoring this conference to highlight problems faced by the Halal meat and food industry and reaching a solution to these issues which can lift the present exports to US 5-6 billion dollars. He said the government should make its officers more active in missions abroad for ensuring access of Pakistani Halal meat and other food products in the international market which could help increasing the Halal exports of the country by three times.
He said Pakistani meat is liked world over due to its quality and taste but government patronage is needed to enhance its exports. Naseeb Ahmad Saifi said increasing price of electricity and gas have increased the input cost of the exporters’ manifold; due to which they are facing it difficult to compete with India and African countries in the international market.
