Dr. Rashid bin Ahmed bin Fahad, Minister of State and Chairman of Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (Muwasafat), has launched the Halal e-learning platform, the world’s first integrated portal for the halal economy, during Muwasafat’s participation in Gulfood 2016, a major food and hospitality trade event in the region, which kicked off at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) on Sunday.
Bin Fahad, the halal e-learning platform, was launched as part of supportive and implementing measures for advancing Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s initiative to develop a vibrant Islamic economic sector and spur local economies in the areas of industry and trade. The UAE, he said, was making tremendous efforts to create a proper infrastructure and framework for halal standards, in order to protect Muslim consumers in the UAE and Islamic World.
“The move will entrench the UAE’s position as a pivotal hub for the halal industry and trade through an interactive, dynamic portal that attracts public and private stakeholders,” he added.
The portal will be equipped with the most advanced interactive, high quality and technology to be a friendly and easy access and browsing portal that contains audiovisual, print educational materials about halal services and products, certification and registration of halal trademarks, halal statistics, in addition to online workshops and informative lectures.
By launching this portal, he explained, Muwasafat aims to introduce the Halal National Mark and the UAE Scheme for Halal Products to its strategic partners, manufacturers and suppliers of halal food and meat.
The Halal National Mark was launched in 2014 as part of the UAE Scheme for Halal Products to regulate and certify the halal industry and its various products. The Muwasafat grants the Mark indicating that the product, service and production system was in conformity with the approved requirements.
