DUBAI, 9th October, 2016 (WAM)–The Third Global Islamic Economy Summit (GIES) will begin in Dubai on Tuesday, focusing on challenges that face the economy, along with strengthening co-operation in a bid to find sustainable solutions.
Themed “Inspiring Change,” the summit will be held under the patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The summit is organised by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre, with Thomson Reuters as a partner.
It is expected to attract more than 3, 000 influential leaders, decision makers, an elite of academics from prestigious universities, and experts in key economic sectors.
Additionally, President of the Republic of Mauritius, Amina Gharib, will be one of the keynote speakers.
Regarding the conference, Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman, Dubai Chamber, and Board Member of the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre, said, “The GIES has proven its position in recent years as a global platform for attracting an elite of keynote speakers, including leaders, decision-makers, experts and specialists in all sectors, with the aim to exchange views.”
Further, Abdulla Mohammed Al Awar, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre, noted, “This year’s summit tackles themes and strategic issues that are relevant to both local and international stakeholders and, therefore, calls for an in-depth discussion to map out a clear future for the global economy.”
