‘TRANSITION – TRADITION – TRACTION’

Kazan: The 9th World Halal Day which took place in Tatarstan as a collaboration between the Government of Tatarstan, Invest Tatarstan, Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, and United World Halal Development (UNWHD) was deemed a success by all the stakeholders.

The three-day event aimed to foster cooperation in trade, economy, science and technology cooperation, and promote social and cultural ties between Russia and the OIC member countries. The sharing economy and the halal industry were on the agenda of the event. Other key topics were Islamic finance and partner banking, youth diplomacy, export development, and entrepreneurship and investment. The event also covered the Machine Building Cluster Forum.

World Halal Day and events are dedicated to the 1,100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgarians. Over 10 cooperation deals in various fields such as finance, health and agriculture were sealed during the event, of which Anadolu Agency is global communication partner. Speakers were from UAE, South Africa, Bahrain, India, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Jordan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Abkhazia, Tatarstan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Sudan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Adygea, Kabardino-Balkarian, Chechen Republic, Kyrgyz Republic, Netherlands, Morocco, Spain, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, and so on.

Conversations and panel discussions focused on investing in the halal sector, leveraging halal trade through the Russian Continental free trade area, global halal future trends, halal tourism, halal supply chain, unpacking the halal export market and halal regulatory environment and infrastructure. There was also a huge focus placed on countries supporting each other and creating ways for each country to contribute to and support the halal sector, together.

The event also hosted the Kazan Expo 2022′ exhibition, which was held on an area of 10,000 square meters and more than 147 exhibitors and 10000 participants from 64 countries. At the exhibition, which aims to promote and support the halal industry, companies from many sectors such as tourism, fashion and beauty, IT technologies, finance, as well as food, health, cosmetics and chemistry sectors took part.

The Kazan Summit hosted the ‘World Halal Day’ for the first time.

At the ‘Modest Fashion Day’ festival, held as part of the cultural program of the summit, experts discussed the expectations, economic opportunities in the field of ‘modest fashion’ and steps to be taken to support talented designers. As part of the festival, the collections of 12 designers from Russia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Spain were displayed at a fashion show.

Chief Executive of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, Taliya Minullina in her message said that they highly valued the relations, friendship, respect and all-round mutually beneficial partnership with the OIC countries and she also indicated that It was possible to say that the summit exceeded the level of the previous year the area got bigger and has covered more participants and exhibitors than before. Considering the reality it was indeed an immense success.

She also said that “The efforts were aimed at strengthening cooperation between Russia and the Muslim world. It was seen that the OIC countries are as like-minded people on the path to common prosperity and the continuation of an open dialogue between countries. The Russia-Islamic World Summit is just such a platform for the synergy of the economic, scientific, technical, cultural and informational agenda through various OIC structures,”

Meanwhile, President of Tatarstan, Rustam Nurgaliyevich Minnikhanov in his message said that Russia set a high value on strengthening the friendly ties with Muslim countries, both bilateral relations and within the OIC.

“Russia has coordinated the efforts in dealing with many important issues on the regional and global agenda, and together stood against the use of blackmail, discriminative measures, and political and economic dictate in international relations. Counting on the further boosting of mutually beneficial, productive cooperation in trade, economy, science and technology, culture and other areas,” pointed out by President Rustam and also added that it is important that Russian Muslims actively participate in expanding the country’s international ties and the Kazan Summit 2022 was the proof of that.

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) founder & president and the Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha Mr Thol. Thirumavalavan participated as dignified guest of honor in KazanSummit and World Halal Day event. He clearly described that “Halal is not only meant for Muslims and meat. It is a healthy lifestyle for human beings across the world.”

Mr Mohamed Jinna, wholeheartedly accepted & welcomed the conclusive outcome of 2022 mega event and he firmly believes that Tatarstan will connect all the halal manufacturers and provide them with direct access to supply chain. He was extremely affirmative to know that this conference has unpacked the halal sector in depth and given Russians hope that this will create more job and business opportunities for them.

This event shall place Tatarstan as the halal hub for trade in the halal sector, a first in Tatarstan and Russian Federation.

The next ‘World Halal Day 2023’ is set to take place in Singapore and the Official Key handover from Tatarstan to Singapore as next hosting country for this mega event took place.
